Minnesota Birding Trip - 2008

This page contains information and photos from the fourth out-of-state birding trip for the "Wagtail Senior Birding Club". The trip took place January 17-21, 2008 to Northeastern Minnesota. Our itinerary:
January 17 - "Yours Truly" and Dency Kahn drive from St. Louis to "Gloryland" in Calhoun County, Illinois to pick up Johanna Shipley, and bird/drive from "Gloryland" to Iowa City, Iowa - Stay overnight in Iowa City;
January 18 - Bird/drive to Mason City, Iowa, pick up Dave Pierce in Mason City, bird/drive to Duluth, Minnesota, stay overnight in Duluth;
January 19 - Meet Mike Hendrickson (guide) and Wasau, Wisconsin birding club at 6:00am at Perkins Pancake House at 40th Street West (Temperature was -18F and wind chill was -39F). Drive Northwest to Sax-Zim Bog and bird at Sax-Zim Bog, back to Duluth and Superior, Wisconsin to bird - stay overnight in Duluth;
January 20 - Meet at 6:30am at Perkins Pancake House and drive Southwest to
Tamarack, Minnesota (Temperature in the car was -22F). Bird at Tamarack, Rice
Lake NWR in McGregor, MN, the City of Aitkin, MN, bird/drive to Mason City, Iowa - stay overnight in
Mason City;
January 21 - Bird/drive from Mason City, Iowa to St. Louis, MO (Johanna to "Gloryland").
